Why sleep when you're not employed?
Posted February 3rd, 2016 -- 11:37 PM

It was late in the night, at about 11:43pm. I was going through some files, talking with a friend and concluding on the work I had for the day. In our discussion, my friend asked this question 'Why sleep when you're not employed?" There and then, I thought it'll be a great title for a blog post. Here it goes!

It is easy to observe, judge and blame the system to be the cause of one's unemployment. "My school didn't teach me this." "My parents didn't do that." "I have a degree but there are no jobs." The excuses are so many. But how many of us have asked the real question, "Why am I unemployed, whereas others are employed?" Can we look at it objectively, to identify a pattern that may be a path to your employment?

I'm not writing this because I have a job, or because I create jobs for others. No. I'm writing this because we have the data that shows a pattern which explains about 40% of why most people without jobs are without jobs. It is called PREPARATION.

More than 80% of those with jobs prepared more than those without jobs. For every candidate we have worked with, whom we made to prepare more, they have had their chances increase tremendously. More than 60% have had jobs because we motivated them to prepare more than their usual.

What does preparation entail? From reading through the job description and understanding it to writing up a captivating and authentic CV and Letter of Motivation. Once you are more prepared, your chances are more than 30x those who aren't prepared.

So coming back to the question - "Why sleep when you're not yet employed?" If you've not had a job, it implies you've not prepared well. As such you have to put in much more effort and intelligence in preparing so much so that sleeping will become an afterthought.

That was all a joke! Go to bed when necessary and prepare smarter and better when refreshed.
