Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation is a world leader in the fight against HIV and AIDS in children. EGPAF operates in 16 countries and more than 5,000 sites worldwide to prevent vertical transmission of HIV to children and support those who are already infected. Today, thanks to the success of the work of the Foundation and its partners, pediatric AIDS has been virtually eliminated in the United States. With a global workforce of more than 3,100 people, nine out of 10 of whom work in the field – the Foundation's global mission is to implement prevention, care and treatment, and to advance innovative research.

Purpose of the position

The EFFECTIVENESS project, namely the evaluation of the effectiveness of the integration of rapid antigen testing for SARS-CoV-2 in MNCH, HIV and tuberculosis services in Cameroon, aims to assess the effectiveness of SARS-CoV-2 Ag-RDT integration in MNCH, HIV and TB clinics in Cameroon on SARS-CoV-2 testing and routine service delivery compared to baseline. We will also describe healthcare setting and individual factors associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection. 
A pre- and post-implementation evaluation model will be implemented to compare COVID-19 testing activities before and after the integration of the rapid COVID test. The study will be conducted in 30 purposively selected institutions in Cameroon. The population will include patients and carers seen at the MNCH, HIV and tuberculosis clinics in the 30 establishments.

This position is open for the pre-intervention phase of the study and will involve the abstraction/extraction of routine service delivery records for secondary analysis of program data. The research assistant will be assigned to a region with the ability to roam between sites. He/She will work under the guidance and supervision of the Technical Research Officer and the Strategic Information and Evaluation Officer. He/She will be primarily responsible for data abstraction from primary sources using electronic CRFs or paper questionnaires. He/She will also ensure the maintenance of the security and confidentiality of the extracted data in accordance with the principles of ethics in human activities. He/She will collaborate with all front line staff,

Key Responsibilities:
  • In conjunction with ACC program support staff and MOH staff at the site level, they will collect/extract and triangulate data for each eligible patient.
  • Ensure daily data entry into a digital questionnaire using an electronic data collection system in accordance with SOPs.
  • Ensure organization and storage of documents after data entry and report generation.
  • Ensure the verification and triangulation of data from source documents and make the necessary corrections and updates, if necessary.
  • Ensure secure storage of data collection tools
  • Maintain a good relationship with collaborators and other staff involved in the data collection process;
  • Ensure the quality and timely completion of all activities;
  • Ensure the identification and resolution of problems in a diplomatic and proactive manner;
  • Perform any other task related to data collection assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications required
  • Level: Minimum Bachelor's degree with an advanced degree in public health or a degree in health sciences (nursing or medicine);
  • Have a good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office software package, be familiar with the use of digital data collection tools;
  • Language: bilingualism (French and English). However, be able to speak one language fluently and be proficient in the other language.
  • Other skills required: have good interpersonal skills, be available, flexible, be on time, be interested in public health, be rigorous and motivated.

  • The technical qualification will be assessed during an interview with a selection committee: Note that only the shortlisted candidate will be contacted for the assessment of theoretical and practical skills, the interview. 60%
  • Pricing Indicate at the top of your cover letter your monthly consulting fees for the requested tasks. 30%
  • Similar performance Provide at least 3 professional references and field experience will be evaluated. 10%
