CALL FOR APPLICATIONS Doctors Without Borders, for its activities in KUMBA PROJECT AREA is looking for: COMMUNITY HEALTH EDUCATOR Manyemen Hospital (ref: CHEMAN120322) Doctors Without Borders (DWB) is an international non-governmental medical association providing assistance to populations in distress, to victims of natural or man-made disasters and to victims of armed conflict irrespective of race, religion, creed or political convictions. Related with our activities we are looking for Community Health Educator Working location: MAYEMEN Hospital (Applicants must be residents of these area and have to indicate the area explicitly when applying) Positions: 1 Type of contract: Fixed Term Salary: According to the organisation´s Salary Grid – Level 3 Main Purpose • Advocate for patients fitting Doctors without Borders (DWB) criteria, ensuring access to timely services. • Monitor health promotion related activities in the health facility, including dissemination of information to patients and caregivers regarding health and DWB services. • Collaborate with the hospital staff on the follow-up and reporting of diseases of public health concern. Principal Tasks • Promote knowledge about DWB and its activities in the health facility to patients and care givers and provide accurate referral and counter referral information. • Advocate for patients at the health facility who have been approved for DWB criteria, including the navigation of the health facility. • Follow-up referral and counter referral according to DWB criteria. • Collaborate with the nurses on duty to identify patient problems and link them to the appropriate services. • Educate patients and caregivers on the importance of timely blood replacement at the blood bank and encouraging individuals to enroll in the blood donor pool. • Participate in blood donation drive/campaigns and follow-up of blood donation activities at the health facility. • Identify the health needs of patients and use appropriate health education material to enhance prevention of diseases like malaria, Covid-19, monkey pox, cholera, respiratory tract infections. • Follow-up with suspected diseases of epidemic potential and report them on time. • Report on the HP activities in the health facility on a weekly and monthly basis. • Administer patient satisfactory survey at the health facility, submitting surveys to HP team on a weekly basis, and contribute to analysis. Required Qualifications Education • At least secondary honor levels in high school Experience • Community Health Worker with at least one-year of experience (desirable experience with DWB) • Resident of area that facility is located Languages • English and Pidgin are essential Competencies • Teamwork • Flexibility • Competent • Result-oriented When applying please indicate the place of your residence clearly as only applicants from the respective areas will be considered.
