Program Description (Background)

In order to ensure continuity of access to health services not only for refugees but also for vulnerable host communities, the Cameroonian government intends, through WB IDA-18 funding, to strengthen its Health services. This initiative is part of the government's broader commitment to provide an integrated package of basic social services to refugees and host communities based on a multi-sectoral approach with the education, social protection and labor and local development sectors in line with Cameroon's commitments at the Global Forum on Refugees (GFr) held in Geneva in December 2018.

While implementation of activities has started in the other sectors, those in the health sector have not yet begun and need to be accelerated. The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has defined new implementation modalities through the recruitment of specialized non-governmental organizations (NGOs) with proven operational capacity, good knowledge of the target areas, and the skills required. IMC has been identified as one of these INGOs and will submit a proposal for the Far North region
