Under its Canine for Conservation Program, The African Wildlife Foundation is desirous of hiring a project driver. The driver will support the implementation of the canine project activities. The Driver will be responsible for facilitating the movements of the team of dog handlers and dogs. The movements will be in the city of Yaoundé and towards the Nsimalen International Airport. The driver will report technically report to the Administrative & Finance Manager and administratively, to the Technical Advisor Canine for Conservation Program.

Responsibilities

1.      Canine for conservation project implementation

-          Drive the project vehicle to transport dogs & dog handlers to the implementation site (Yaounde-Nsimalen International Airport)

-          Carry out project errands in the city, and keep the vehicle's technical file up to date

2.      Vehicle maintenance

-          Take care of the daily maintenance of the vehicle for which he/she is responsible, and make arrangements for repairs in case of breakdowns (inform the supervisor of any breakdowns or suspected breakdowns);

-          Check fuel and lubricant levels to avoid dry runs, fill out and sign the fuel card at each fueling

3.      Adhere to AWF policies and right based conservation

-          Respect and ensure compliance with the rules for the use of the organization's vehicles at all times and in all places (filling out the logbook, wearing seatbelts, no alcohol, no drugs, no foreign persons/materials on board without prior authorization)

-          Ensure that all administrative documents related to the circulation of vehicles are up to date, notify the supervisor at least one month in advance in case of expiration of these documents

-          Perform any other additional duties required by the supervisor in the course of the service

Profile :

-          Holder of a D driver's license;

-          Have a minimum of secondary school certificate;

-          Have knowledge in mechanics;

-          Minimum 2 years experience in a similar position;

-          Experience with an NGO would be an asset;

-          Good knowledge of the city of Yaoundé;

-          The candidate must be comfortable in a multicultural work environment, promote teamwork and be able to handle pressure;

-          Strong ability to adapt;

-          Fluency in French and/or English
