Environmental, Social, Health & Safety Manager / Officer - Africa

 

An international renewable energy business is looking to hire a bilingual French / English speaking Environmental, Social, Health & Safety Manager / Officer for their Cameroon office, there is also a possibility to be based from Kenya. This is a residential position in an office environment but will involve project dependent travel throughout Africa.

 

You will provide support to the Africa E&S Manager for renewable energy projects in French speaking African countries and be responsible for overseeing the environmental, social, health and safety performance of the business. The company develops projects from design to operation and you will be required to examine corporate activities to establish where improvements can be made and ensure compliance with environmental legislation and international standards across the organisation.

 

Requirements:

 

Bachelors Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or associated field.

Fluent in spoken & written French and English.

5 years of demonstrable experience implementing International E&S Standards, including IFC, in infrastructure project in Africa.

Knowledge and experience in global environmental standards and frameworks of international finance institutions such as the WB, ADB, IFC on major projects, and an understanding documentation

Experience with E&S and sustainability reporting.

Experience implementing OHS programs, managing emergency response incidents, implemented corrective actions, conducting or leading training in applicable health and safety areas will be an added advantage.

It would be a benefit to have good knowledge in Cameroon’s Environmental, Social and Labour legislative

What they will offer you:

 

Gross salary: between $90,000 to $110,000 USD per annum depending on experience & qualifications. You will be responsible for your own taxes and accommodation costs. They offer a medical package
