Title  : Laboratory technician

Reports to : Chief Medical Officer

Place of work : Yaoundé - Nkozoa

DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the chief medical officer, the laboratory technician will ensure the proper functioning of the laboratory in all its aspects.

 

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

WELCOME AND ORIENTATION

• Welcome customers, and guide them on the various services that will be provided

• Assist clients in the process of analyzing body composition with the automated machine

SAMPLE COLLECTION, ANALYSIS AND TRANSPORT

• Coordinate, collect and analyze client blood samples both within the clinical facility and in collaboration with other laboratories

DATA MANAGEMENT

• Record laboratory results in the EHR system and communicate them to patients through agreed channels

LABORATORY MANAGEMENT

• Maintain, calibrate, clean and test the sterility of the equipment at your disposal

• Help order and maintain stocks and resources

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Degree or diploma in medical laboratory technology (MLT), laboratory sciences or related fields

• Have at least 3 years of professional experience (uninterrupted) in a similar position

• Demonstrated experience as a laboratory technician or relevant role; valid laboratory technician license

• Experience in the use of electrical and non-electrical laboratory equipment and potentially hazardous substances (flammable liquids, infectious bacteria, biological hazards, etc.)

• Should have personal motivation to improve health outcomes

• Attention to detail; analytical skills

• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills; Fluency in French and English

• Working knowledge of the MS Office suite

• In-depth knowledge of QHSE systems, preventive measures and best laboratory practices

• Ability to work independently and under pressure

•           Time management skills

• Having skills to operate ECG and ultrasound equipment is a plus

TYPE OF CONTRACT

• Permanent contract

• Two months probation, with evaluation of the probation period
