JOB POSITION

Title: Laboratory Technician

Reports to: Chief Medical Officer

Place of Work: Yaounde - Nkozoa

Number of Positions: One (01)

DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the Chief Medical Officer, the Laboratory Technician will ensure the smooth running of the Laboratory in all aspects.

 

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

RECEPTION AND ORIENTATION

- Receiving clients, and orienting them on the various services that will be carried out

- Assisting clients in the body composition analysis process with the automated machine

 

SAMPLE COLLECTION, ANALYSIS AND TRANSPORTATION

- Coordinate, collect and analyze blood samples of clients both in in-clinic facility and with collaboration with other labs

 

DATA MANAGEMENT

- Record results of labs into EHR system and communicate them to patients via agreed channels

 

LAB MANAGEMENT

- Maintaining, calibrating, cleaning and testing sterility of equipment at your disposal

- Assist in ordering and maintaining stock and resources

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

- Diploma or Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT), Laboratory Sciences or related fields

- Have at least 3 years of (unbroken) professional experience in a similar position

- Proven experience as Lab Technician or relevant role; valid laboratory technician license

- Experience in operating electrical and nonelectrical laboratory equipment and potentially dangerous substances (flammable liquids, infectious bacteria, biohazards etc.)

- Should have a personal motivation to improve health outcomes

- Thorough attention to detail; analytical skills

- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal communication skills; Fluency in French and English

- Working knowledge of MS Office suite

- In depth knowledge of QHSE Systems, preventative measures and laboratory best practices

- Ability to work autonomously and under pressure

- Time management skills

- Having skills to operate an ECG and Echography equipment is a plus 

 

TYPE OF CONTRACT

- Permanent contract

- Two months of probation, with evaluation of the probation period

- Competitive and negotiable salary proposals
