Main Purpose

? Supervising all the clinical activities in relation to sexual and reproductive healthcare according to DW protocols of the community. To mentor, coach and educate midwife assistants, TBA's and other volunteers (CMHE&HPs) in the community on quality midwifery care and understanding how good collaboration with other actors can reduce maternal and newborn mortality.

Principal Tasks and Accountabilities

? Supervising, supporting and evaluating the team under his/her responsibility particularly midwives and other related staff in her team such as cleaners. Planning and organizing their work (areas, days, absences, visits, holidays, etc) and coaching them in their work with special focus in following all appropriate protocols and procedures.

? Ensuring team work and a professional relationship between maternity and other departments.

? Supervising the clinical activities in all the maternity departments and activities such as ante-natal consultations, delivery and after delivery follow up, post-natal consultations, family planning consultations, new-born vaccinations and liaising with the Medical Doctor about the patients who need special care times, visiting hours, etc.

? Ensuring that the staff on duty knows, implements and follows at all times the universal hygiene standards/ precautions, bio-hazard prevention and infection control in the medical premises ensuring high standards of hygiene in the working environment.

? Ensuring that all staff using medical devices are qualified and trained, cleaning and minor maintenance tasks are performed according to the protocols, reporting any malfunction to the project biomedical service.

? Being responsible for the department-related pharmacy activities (stock and consumption monitoring) as well as maintenance of the medical equipment.

? Being responsible for ensuring that all the administrative procedures, patients' data and documents are filled in correctly and registered for compiling monthly reports reflecting the activity in the department.

? In certain contexts, being responsible for ensuring that the maternity staff is able to identify, receive and provide care to the victims of the SGBV in collaboration with the Obs Gyne MD and following the protocols.

Context Specific Accountabilities

? Supervising, supporting and evaluating the Midwifes and TBAs as well as all other facility staff in their work (cleaners).

? To coach staff in their work with a special focus on following all appropriate protocols and procedures.

? Supervising the outreach activities in relation to SRH, such as ante-natal follow up, delivery and postnatal follow up, post-natal consultations, family planning consultations, newborn vaccinations.

? To ensure and supervise that all staff that use medical devices are qualified and trained, cleaning and minor maintenance tasks are performed according to the protocols, reporting any malfunction to you.

? Being responsible for the outreach-related pharmacy activities (stock and consumption monitoring) as well as maintenance of the medical equipment.

? Ensuring that all daily report is collected and reported with challenges encountered in the community reported immediately to the MWAM.

? Coach/train/mentor the SRH staff how to carry out pharmacy and medical equipment management (drugs orders, follow-up of the stock, storage conditions, inventories, follow-up of expired drugs and their destruction, drugs consumption, etc.).

? Being responsible for ensuring that all the administrative procedures, patients' data and documents are filled in correctly and registered for compiling monthly outreach medical reports.

? To support and educate staff in the PHC to ensure they are confident and prepared to receive and provide care for survivors of SV.

? Directly support clinical care of patients when you are present in the department, use this direct patient care time to educate staff about different presentations and management.

? Identify educational needs of staff and prepare and deliver trainings.

? Clear communication with line manager regarding the maternity activities in the PHC's.

? Monitoring and surveillance of morbidities and mortalities in relation to SRH services in the community.

? Ensure the like between DWB and other actors in the community is strengthen.

? Training of both the MWA, TBAs and local established groups in the community on SRH related activities/topics.

? Follow up of TBA activities in the community (sensitization, health messages and delivery of the messages).

? Conduct at least 1 monthly meeting with the TBAs to discuss activities and achievements and set priorities for the next month.

? Define a clear referral pathway from the community to the facility in relation to SV.

? With the WMA and TBA define a strategy for PNC home visits.

? Respect security rules and protocols of DWB.

Required Qualifications

Education Bachelors Degree in Midwifery essential

Experience Two years of proven work experience essential, experience in supervisor positions desirable, experience in the humanitarian sector with DWB or other NGO desirable

Languages

Knowledge English and Pidgin essential
