About the job

We are looking to strengthen our Tech team with a Software Developer for a period of 2 months for a summer internship. The primary focus will be to review existing features in our GCE application, N'wane, polish it up and upload the application to Google PlayStore. In this role, you will have the chance to work independently and use your own initiatives to propose improvements so we can get an optimal application, to help provide access to educational material for students in need of this most.

Main Responsibilities

·         Fix bugs and performance problems

·         Write clean, readable and testable code

·         Create a structured system documentation

·         Improve upon existing features and add new features to the application

·         Review system and suggest improvements

·         Upload application to Playstore

Role Requirements

·         The ability to learn quickly to understand what has been done already

·         Excellent analytical skills with a good problem-solving attitude

·         Ability to work independently (with minimal supervision)

·         Strong communication and documentation skills

·         Experience in mobile and web programming

·         Proficient in web programming languages especially JavaScript

·         Familiarity with Git and the MVC pattern

·         Familiarity with flutter, ReactJS or similar tools.

·         Knowledge about the mobile app development process

·         Bachelor’s or Masters degree student in IT or related field
