• Position Title: Project Data Analyst.
• About Us: The Data Science Centre for the Study of Surgery, Injury and Equity in Africa (D-SINE
Africa) is an organization located at University of Buea responsible for the systematic collection
of data on injuries through Trauma Registries in various hospitals across the country in
collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health of Cameroon. D-SINE Africa is a multiinstitutional
organization
involving
multiple
countries
(Cameroon,
USA,
South
Africa,
and
Uganda)
is
funded
by
the
National
Institutes
of
Health
(NIH)
Fogarty
International
Center
(FIC).
The
ultimate
mission
D-SINE
Africa
to
reduce
burden
injuries
bridge
the gap of inequities to access to surgical services in African countries. Hiring of collaborators in
our organization is guided by the principles of merit, equity, gender equality and protection of

• Job Description: This is a full-time position for a 1-year contract which is renewable during the
5-year period of the project depending on individual performance and availability of funds.
Under the leadership of the Data Management and Analysis Core (DMAC) of D-SINE Africa, the
Data Analyst will be responsible for designing and implementing data quality control/assurance
procedures and performing in-depth data analysis as per the objectives of the project. Working
hours will be 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday, and he/she will be given a 1-hour lunch break every
working day.
• Applicant Requirements: All applicants MUST fulfil the following conditions:
o Be holders of Master’s Degree in Data Sciences, Statistics, Economics, Public Health or
Epidemiology with a good experience in data management and analysis.
o Be Proficient in the application of standard biostatistical methods to health data (2x2
tables, measures of associations such as the odds ratio, knowledge of different study
designs such as case-control, confounding and how to adjust for it, logistic and linear
regression and the reporting of results of such estimating procedures).
o Be proficient in the use of a statistical software (preferably Stata or R)
o Be capable of working independently.
o Speaking both English and French fluently would be an advantage.
o Be highly motivated.
o Be available to start work immediately.
