CAMEROON EMPLOYMENT SERVICES, is looking for experienced talents for their clients for the position of Senior Legal Counsel

Yaoundé - Cameroun

Job brief

We are looking for an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to act as a strong and reliable Business Partner for the organization and to protect the organization’s legal interest. You’ll provide advice about legal topics on a strategic level by working directly with senior management.

Responsibilities

·         Provide expert and strategic legal advice to management (labor law, partnerships, international ventures, corporate finance etc.)

·         Collaborate with management to devise efficient defense strategies

·         Research and evaluate different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations

·         Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advice on possible legal issues

·         Communicate and negotiate with external parties (regulators, external counsel, public authority etc.), creating relations of trust

·         Draft and solidify agreements, contracts and other legal documents to ensure the company’s full legal rights

·         Maintain current knowledge of alterations in legislation

·         Ensure that our company complies with relevant laws and policies

·         Design and implement company policies to maximize compliance, and to efficiently detect and correct any violations

·         Specify internal governance policies and regularly monitor compliance

·         Stay informed regarding ongoing movement, both locally and nationally, in the relevant policies, procedure, guidance and law, and make adjustments to policies and procedures when necessary

·         Fulfill other duties as assigned, including contract review, policy review and writing, etc.

Requirements

·         Proven experience as a legal counsel in business environment (minimum 8 years)

·         Excellent knowledge and understanding of corporate law and procedures

·         Demonstrated ability to create legal defensive or proactive strategies

·         High degree of professional ethics and integrity

·         Sound judgement and ability to analyse situations and information

·         Outstanding communication skills

·         BSc degree in Law or J.D. degree

·         MA or BSc in Business Administration will be considered an advantage Business-oriented approach to problem solving, tempered by an appreciation for legal complexity and risk

·         Collaborative and proactive nature

·         Superior legal and analytical skills – excellent judgment and initiative in selecting the most effective solutions

·         Excellent communications and negotiation skills

·         Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to stand firm on issues with business clients when necessary

·         Detail-oriented and resourceful with excellent follow-through skills

·         Flexible and open to occasional travel
