Africa) is an organization located at University of Buea responsible for the systematic collection
of data on injuries through Trauma Registries in various hospitals across the country in
collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health of Cameroon. D-SINE Africa is a multiinstitutional

and
Uganda)
is
funded
by
the
National
Institutes
of
Health
(NIH)
Fogarty
International
Center
(FIC).

access
surgical
services
in
African
countries.

• Job Description: This is a full-time position for a 1-year contract which is renewable during the
5-year period of the project depending on individual performance and availability of funds.
Under the leadership of the Project Principal Investigators, the Research Fellow will be
responsible for data management and quality control, implementing statistical analyses in
collaboration with project researcher and generating periodic reports and aiding in the
publication of research results. Working hours will be 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday, and he/she
will be given a 1-hour lunch break every working day.
• Applicant Requirements: All applicants MUST fulfil the following conditions:
o Be holders of a doctoral degree e.g. PhD, MD, MBBS.
o Be proficient in the use of a statistical software (preferably Stata or R)
o Have a quantitative background with proficiency in basic probability and statistics.
o Be Proficient in the application of standard biostatistical methods to health data (2x2
tables, measures of associations such as the odds ratio, knowledge of different study
designs such as case-control, confounding and how to adjust for it, logistic and linear
regression and the reporting of results of such estimating procedures).
o Speaking both English and French fluently would be an advantage.
o Be highly motivated.
o Be available to start work immediately.
