JOB DESCRIPTIONS LJS GROUP

Web designer / digital marketer

As a web designer, you'll plan, create and code web pages, using both technical and non-technical skills to produce websites that fit LJS GROUP customers' requirements.

 

Being involved in the technical and graphical aspects of pages, you'll determine not only the look of the website but how it works as well. You may also be responsible for the maintenance of all existing site.

 

Responsibilities

As a web designer of LJS GROUP, you'll need to:

 

a.    Identify the various needs and liaise of clients regularly and

b.   draw up detailed website specifications

c.    Design sample page layouts including text size and colors

d.   design graphics, animations and manipulate digital photographs

e.    register web domain names and organize the hosting of the website

f.     present initial design ideas to clients

g.   carry out coding using a variety of software

h.    work with different content management systems

i.      search engine optimization (SEO)

j.      Meet relevant legal requirements such as accessibility standards, freedom of information and privacy

k.    Design the website's visual imagery and ensure it's in line with company branding policy or the requirements of the client

l.      Proofread content and make changes where necessary

m.  edit content, debug code and re-design web pages

n.    Work with other web specialists, including web developers and graphic designers

o.    liaise with outside agencies

p.   Test all websites owned by LJS GROUP regularly to ensure its working

q.   Hand over the complete website logins to the LJS GROUP CEO at every domain name purchase as well as logins of every online services of LJS GROUP

r.     Provide post-sales technical support

s.    Provide training to staffs on the use of LJS GROUP online services

t.     Research current design trends

u.    Undertake continuing professional development (CPD) activities to keep up to date with new software developments.

 

Working hours

You'll generally work 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, but you might be required to work extra hours in the evenings or on weekends to catch up with professional responsibilities. Some jobs may involve being on-call to deal with unexpected problems that need solving at any time, day or night.

As the equipment required to be a web designer is simply a computer, software and high-speed internet, you can work from almost any location.

 

What to expect

The job involves spending hours at a keyboard and demands high levels of concentration. To prevent eye strain, a bad back or other related health problems, regular breaks from the screen are recommended. Your dress code should more business-like.

Travel to client sites may be required especially when working on a large and complex project, and you might be based there for the duration of the project.

Digital marketer

Digital marketing involves the promotion of products and services through a variety of digital channels, using the internet and mobile technology. Push and pull marketing techniques are applied, targeting consumers both directly and indirectly.

 

In the role of digital marketer, you'll be involved in developing an organization’s multi-channel communication strategies and may work across several areas, or specialize in a few, depending on the size and requirements of your employer.

Types of digital marketing

You will have to initiate all commonly used digital marketing techniques include:

 

Social media marketing - developing a distinct online presence by attracting high numbers of internet followers through social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram.

Search engine optimization (SEO) - developing strategies to increase the number of visitors to a website by achieving high-ranking placements in search results.

Pay-per-click (PPC) campaigns - sponsored online advertising paid for by the business to appear alongside non-paid search results.

Mobile marketing - includes app-based, in-game, location-based and SMS marketing.

Affiliate marketing - where a business allows other businesses (affiliates) to sell products on their website. The affiliate is paid commission for each customer brought to the website by their own marketing strategies.

Responsibilities

As a digital marketer, you'll need to:

 

Create and upload copy and images for the LJS GROUP's websites

Write and dispatch email marketing campaigns

Provide accurate reports and analysis to clients and company management to demonstrate effective return on investment (ROI)

Research new online media opportunities that may benefit the business including mobile, social media, development of blogs and forums

Design website banners and assist with web visuals

Communicate with clients, affiliate networks and affiliate partners

Conduct keyword research and web statistics reporting

Contribute to social media engagement and brand awareness campaigns

Use web analytics software to monitor the performance of client websites and make recommendations for improvement

Contribute to LJS GROUP blogs and manage e-communications

Assist with paid media, including liaising with digital advertising agencies

develop and integrate content marketing strategies

keep up to date with current digital trends

Manage the contact database and assist with lead generation activities

Negotiate with media suppliers to achieve the best price for clients.

What to expect

The role is largely office based with a lot of communication by phone, email and conference calls.

Travel may be required, especially in agency roles where visits to clients are an essential part of the job

Flexible working patterns and some working from home may be possible.
